The Nia Technique, created by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, is a practice developed for well-being and body-mind-spirit development. Sessions are done barefoot, and to music. It is suitable for all levels, from beginners to dance or martial arts professionals, as options are given for each sequence.

NIA (which stands for Neuromuscular Integrative Action) combines a diverse blend of 9 Eastern and Western dance and movement forms concepts and philosophies:

· Tai Chi
· Tae Kwon Do
· Aikido
· Jazz Dance
· Modern Dance
· Duncan Dance
· Alexander Technique
· Feldenkrais
· Yoga

In this workshop you experience the 9 established movement forms in NIA one by one to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of the practice, as well as its background and philosophy. You will sense the various energies and purpose that each form has and what that has to do with you personally, your body, your movement habit and your health.

You will awaken to the joy of movement and discover out what makes you tick. The experience will be playful, fun and also intriguing. Give your body, mind and spirit a global experience and find out how re-creating movement habit can lead to insight and health.

Then in the second part of your workshop you will experience how NIA magically weaves all of these diverse experiences together. You will sense how this feels in your body, how it makes you feel emotionally and also how it positively influences your spirit.

"With some participants, I have experienced this kind of workshop to be very cathartic and transformative in the sense that they open into new ways of being, moving and thinking. This has the benefit of restoring a balance that the body has been seeking for a long time and Nia invites your whole being to take one step in and come and play. I hope you give yourself a chance to play and grow with us."
